Dale Washington Johnson was born on January 7, 1873, in the Sni-A-Bar Township, Lafayette County, Missouri. He was the son of Eliza Jane Moore (1855-1932) and Charles Pinkard Johnson (1835-1923). Dell had three siblings: David Sidney (born 1879), Kitty Ethelena (born 1882) and Elsie Hannah (born 1890).
Dell (age 55) married Edna Frances Zeller (age 18) on February 5, 1927 in Visalia, Tulare County, California. Dell and Edna had four daughters: Barbara Gail Johnson (born 1927), Dell Francis Johnson (born 1929), Alma Lea Johnson (born 1932) & Dixie Jane Johnson (born 1933).
Dell died in Bakersfield on June 27, 1957. Dell and Edna had been married thirty years at the time of his death. He was buried in the Blue Mountain Cemetery in Woody. His headstone and memorial can be found at the following site Find-A-Grave
