William Joshua Grant was born in Maine about 1822, and had moved to Lynns Valley, Kern County, California, by 1869. William (age 55) married Julianna "Whisman" Cross (age 36) at a unknown location in 1877. Joshua and Julianna were farmers and had no children together. William died sometime after the 1900 census was taken on June 1st, 1900, At that time, William and Julianna had been married twenty-three years. It is not known when Joshua died nor where he is buried.
