The first Whisman in North America was Johann Philip Wisman. He was born Darmstadt, Starkenburg, Hessen, Germany on August 15, 1715. He traved across the Atlantic on th vessel St. Andrew Galley and arrived in the colonies on September 11, 1737.
Philip (age twenty-five) married Carherine Elizabeth (age 22) in Pennsylvania somtime in 1740. Philip and Catherine had at least five children: John Whisman (1745-1806), Henry Whisman (born 1767), George Whisman (birth unknown), Nicholas Whisman (birth unknown) and Magdalene Whisman (birth unknown).
Johan had been married to Catherine for thirty-eight years at the time of his death, he was sixty-two years old.
